Re: OH! OH! CLEOPATRA (1931) sound AND film

Hello Film Friends! Hope all of you are well. Joseph Blough has been posting some great and RARE stuff over the last couple years! Ed! I tried to post an article from January 5, 1918 titled: TOM WILSON LOSES EYE IN ACCIDENT But will have to give you some of the text instead. In part: (Wilson) "...

Re: Santa Monica’s Slapstick Comedy Cliffs

Nice piece, John. There sure were a lot of hair-raising stunts back then.

But don't forget the studios wouldn't intentionally risk life or limb for art's sake.

Many stuntmen were involved and a lot of clever double-exposures & precise editing too.

Great stuff, Richard. You guys did a great job with this set. The prints, the packaging...

A great collection that should be in all the homes of the film lovers.

I hope the extracted footage with Mickey "McGuire" Rooney is found and replaced to this rightful film.

Thanks for sharing, Robbie.

Re: What Actually Happened between Mack Sennett, Mabel Normand, and Mae Busch

Wow. Great info, Richard. Who is the source of this interview? Next to Cliff Norton, Lahue is the man responsible for getting me into silent comedy as did Sam Gill with their great book, 'Clown Princes and Court Jesters,' so long ago now. After that I sought out all his other comedy histories. I'd l...

Re: PATHFINDERS: MACK SENNETT A RIOT OF DISORDER (1964)

Yes, I enjoyed that show, Richard. I also wish Kathryn had more to say; almost seems as if she was even ignored on the panel. She did age gracefully. Great hearing from Chester, Andy, and Del, and I only wish there was more. Maybe there were even others who were a bit camera shy or they just couldn'...

WOW. Thanks so much for finding and posting this footage, Richard!

The old stars look and talk so well and Kathryn McGuire looks great 40 years later.

Wish there was more of this stuff. Thank you!

Re: Over an Hour of Known and Unknown Silent Comedy Clips

Naturally I hung around and watched the whole thing, Rob, and waited for Ben Turpin to show up. No such luck. But I saw almost everyone else like Frank Hayes; Billy Ruge; Burns and Stull; Al St. John in a couple different things; Larry Semon out west with Lucille Carlisle, Fatty Alexander, Bill Haub...

Re: Sam Gill and Richard M Roberts Zoom Conversation December 19 online

WOW! I loved watching and listening to Richard, Sam, and Hooman also. Great show. Just wanted to add that Ben Turpin supposedly clowned with Ringling Brothers sometime prior to August 1906 (according to a newspaper blurb at that time). Chester Conklin also clowned for the Ringlings before entering m...
