Re: Twelfth Night Directed by 17-Year-Old Orson Welles?
I’m flabbergasted that this footage and soundtrack actually survived and were welded together. CGI (for the most part) and AI (for all parts) be damned, but this was modern technology restoration at its finest. But as Richard noted, somebody please fix those rolling credits!

Re: Our new Kickstarter..... MONTY BANKS
What a fabulous celebration of Monty Banks’ silent comedies - I haven’t gotten to the two features yet, but so far I watched all of the shorts and the bonus material. As with Dave & Dave’s previous sets, this is an outstanding presentation of an unjustly overlooked comedian. And for me it was a ...

1934 SAG FILM STARS' FROLIC
Louis Lewyn-produced short released by Educational and hosted by Walter Winchell. A smattering of stars seen at a rodeo with a slight plotline similar to THE STOLEN JOOLS. Shirley Temple is prominent in several shots with no mention. Billy Barty nearly gets kicked in the pants by James Cagney. Arthu...

I like your straightforward analysis, Richard. If you made an audio commentary track for this bupke, I think you could turn it into something hilarious. But I wouldn't want to put you through that kind of torture - seeing this twice!

Re: CARRY HARRY (1942)
Harry's career in 1942 seemed to be on a modest but genuine rebound; currently on eBay is this cast & crew still from the PRC feature HOUSE OF ERRORS, a good little comedy that serves Harry and his screen partner Charley Rogers particularly well. It also marks the final film appearance of lovely...

CARRY HARRY (1942)
Harry Langdon is our eponymous hero in this delightful late Columbia short, which begins around the 5:40 mark after an introduction. Directed by his old friend and collaborator Harry Edwards, it's clear that Langdon had a hand in the writing as he reuses gags from both THREE'S A CROWD and THE CHASER...

Re: Harold Lloyd by Robert E. Sherwood
It's interesting that Sherwood actually mentions the effects of the bomb: the loss to his right hand. Yes indeed. It's not the first mention in the press of Harold's hand injury (those reports came soon after the occurrence in 1919) but Sherwood's account appeared when Lloyd was at the height of hi...

Harold Lloyd by Robert E. Sherwood
"Harold Lloyd himself is not a great comedian - not to be compared, individually, with Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harry Langdon, W.C. Fields... He has no genius for pantomimic clowning; his humor, at all times, is reliant upon the surrounding situations. But he has something that all these...
