Other Side of the Wind Trailer

Apparently it's going to have its world premiere in Venice and then on Netflix in November. Nice to see the quality of Welles' footage has been preserved. Trailer here.

RIP Susan Miller, Ouilotta Hemoglobin in "Sucker"

Her imdb page is here, and her lasting achievement was playing the cute Ouilotta Hemoglobin in Never Give a Sucker an Even Break. Of interest to the Arizona mafioso, she spent her final years in Phoenix. Did anyone meet her?

Re: Brother Theodore/Jerry Lewis/Merv Griffin (1966)

I "get" most performers even if I don't find them funny or moving. I never got Brother Theodore. He didn't seem like he was playing a nutty character, like Professor Irwin Corey or Rip Taylor. He seemed to be genuinely paranoid/schizophrenic. And it felt like the height of cruelty to be pa...

Re: Reconstructed version of Chaplin's THE PROFESSOR

The most interesting part is that we always assumed that Prof. Bosco was meant to be a completely different character. Now we know it's an older Charlie beaten down by poverty. Kind of chilling.

Final Screen Appearance of Marcel Perez

Thanks to Nelson Hughes, who posted this on Facebook, and "eArtFilm", we can see the final screen appearance of Marcel Perez appearing as a one-legged cowpoke in Lash of the Law aka When East Meets West (1926). Perez also directed. The entire film survives at the Library of Congress in a 1...

Vimeo or even DailyMotion is a friendlier host for videos. You get fewer views than on YT, but most of the things we like are of interest to a select audience anyway. I'll miss your YT channel Tommie, but hope it resurfaces somewhere else someday.

Murnau, Borzage and Fox Box Set

This has been out for about a decade now, but the high sticker price ($240 retail!) has kept it out-of-reach for many of us. Now Daedalus Books has it on sale for just $50, and you can knock off another $5 if you sign up for their e-catalog. This is likely the liquidation price so once these are gon...
