Re: Help identifying Jerry Lewis still

How did you do that so effortlessly when you already admitted you weren't that familiar with CRACKING UP? I'm stunned. So, right after reading your reply, I went to check out CRACKING UP--and what do I see? There's Jerry Lewis wearing the exact same hairstyle, eyeglasses, and three-piece dark suit w...

Help identifying Jerry Lewis still

I could use some help identifying this still--I have no idea if this is an easy gimme or something tough. But that's because I've only seen a handful of Jerry Lewis' films, so my frame of reference is limited. I figured the luminaries of this board could help unstump me. So--anyone know what this im...

Rob Zombie on loving any and all silent films

There's a very nice piece at the AV Club today in which Rob Zombie rather touchingly explains his love of silent films. I thought y'all would get a kick out of it: http://www.avclub.com/articles/rob-zombie-on-loving-any-and-all-silent-movies,104943/ (I ought to mention that I owe my weekly blog at T...

Re: Movie Morlocks Article DON'T SEND IN THE CLOWNS

Of course, well, that being said... the problem with my just agreeing with you is that it closes this thread off without much debate, and where's the fun in that? So for the sake of keeping this going, I'll just stand firm on one point: Buster Keaton came from a stage act that involved dialect humor...

Re: Movie Morlocks Article DON'T SEND IN THE CLOWNS

Hello Richard!

Well, thanks for the shout out to the blog, and also thanks for the corrections--I didn't know a lot of that information (obviously) and I appreciate the feedback.

Re: TCM Lloyd shorts run too fast

The Criterion editions of these shorts are completely different, and new, transfers from the ones shown on TCM. The TCM versions were provided by the Harold Lloyd Trust, but Criterion insisted on creating their own masters. (I didn't work on the Safety Last Blu-Ray, but my producer on the To Be Or N...

Early Harold Lloyd on TCM

I'm kind of surprised no one has posted on this yet, but in less than two months TCM is showing a package of Harold Lloyd films that will include some brand new restorations of Lonesome Luke and other early rarities: http://www.tcm.com/schedule/index.html?tz=est&sdate=2013-05-23 I've been inform...
