Shutting Down Silent-Movies.Com
Well, after 18 years online, I've decided to shut my silent-movies.com sites down. I'd not done much with it in the last several years, as much of the code became so old and the thing fell into disrepair and broken links. It was also clear that things like the quicktime clip areas, containing a few ...

Re: Press Release from the Damfinos
Now, quit whining and worrying and enjoy your announcement, it is good news indeed. I am not prone to jumping up and down and yelling "hooray" like a giddy teenager or the Damfino Fan Club, I am interested in the historical importance of the material, and this is one of the lessons we can...

Re: Press Release from the Damfinos
THE CAMERAMAN has always struck me as a very odd film. It is well done, and clearly does contain many of Keaton's own gags. it the pacing that's all wrong, with the storyline betting a bit too dramatic. And it lacks that Keaton symmetry. It also leaves one with the lingering feeling that this could ...

Re: Press Release from the Damfinos
Hmmm, kinda calls the lie to Keaton's occasional interview statement that they never had scripts on his films. Most silent comedies and films in general had scripts and/or scenarios, despite the claims. Silent filmmakers and especially comedians were like magicians, they didn't want the audience to...
