Re: Bill Cassara's New Vernon Dent Book

I was able to find two new Vernon Dent titles; both shown at the Daily Northwestern (Oshkosh, Wisconsin). Title # 1: November 4, 1921. It is listed as a "Christie Comedy" Vernon Dent in "Country Style" (no other details. Title #2: December "also a Verno Dent Comedy; "Yo...

Re: DON'T DIVORCE HIM (1931) ???

Richard, That is a terrific find to locate "Don't Divorce Him" in any format. I was always told this was a missing film. The Educational Press Release on this title has the usual oversenastional write-ups and details. Clyde Cook, the star, received most of the attention. Those two supporti...

Re: Initiating the Young (or "What Worked for YOU?")

NOTE TO SELF: I will try not to write posts on this site between the hours of 3 and 4 a.m. when most people are asleep. The lack of sleep clouded my spelling check mechanism (in my prior post on this subject), and made it seem as if Arthur Houseman used my login. I did have an ice bag on my head tho...

Re: Initiating the Young (or "What Worked for YOU?")

Sorry for the late entry. Can only speak for myself, but my first exposure where the Robert Youngson films: "When Comedy Was King," and "The Golden Age of Comedy." My dad brought me to the cinima to see those, and they were packed with men, grandpas and kid of all ages. I liked e...

Re: "Fainting Lover" Sennett/Educational 1931

Hope you guys don't mind if I answer my own question. The "Honeymoon" song in "Fainting Lover" is actually a shortened title. It was originally composed by songwriter Joseph Howard in 1907. The tune was called, "The Waning Honeymoon." It was part of a musical called &qu...

Re: The Ever-Popular Mae Busch

Thank you for posting this Andrew. A great insight of our Mae. I hope in my lifetime someone will roll up their sleeves and write a book about Mae's life and career. Her early death and later films are void of details.

"Fainting Lover" Sennett/Educational 1931

In the short "Fainting Lover," Vernon Dent sings and dances to a song "Honeymoon." The exact title, I'm not sure about. There must be hundreds of songs with Honeymoon in it, so I am hoping someone familiar with the film can confirm the number he sings. It seems to me to be an est...

Re: A Chapter From My Upcoming Book on Glenn Tryon

Just saw "Dragnet Patrol" tonight for the first time. It starred Glenn Tryon in a good role as a boot legger. It also featured Vernon Dent as his friend "Cookie." Vernon is more of a mug in this one than Walter Long, who is also in this flick.
