Re: HIGH SEA BLUES (1927) Al St. John

She looks like Anita to me. She may have been married to Beauchamp at this time. A sly dirty joke proffered by the writers of this short. Newlywed Al and his wife receive a telegram as they board their ship. The ship is named in the telegram as the USS Hymen.

Re: Chaplin In The Eye of the Beholder

They have eliminated the Chaplin brush mustache for an elongated mo. Maybe the publishers were afraid Chaplin's image would be confused with hitler.

Re: Snub Pollard A Drug Addict?!

What I can't understand is why they went to all of this trouble for Snub Pollard. In the pantheon of once famous deceased celebrities, Snub ranks pretty low. You would think they would spend their resources on someone more prominent.

Snub Pollard A Drug Addict?!

I found this weird silent comedy entry on youtube. Its a very strange documentary that looks like it was made with A.I. I've been researching Snub for a number of years but I have heard nothing about him being a drug addict. Snub was too damn busy to be a drug addict in my opinion. There are some gr...

Re: Her Friend The Bandit

There was a French book on Chaplin that contained a frame grab of Mabel Normand at a telephone operator's console with Chaplin in mufti contorting himself. I believe Harry Booker was reacting in the shot (I'm doing this from memory). Has any identified the film this is from?

Re: Her Friend The Bandit

When I started reading about Chaplin in the late 60's, there were about four lost Chaplin Keystones. All but HFTB have turned up. WH had access to all the Chaplin Keystone negatives in 1918. I believe if Chaplin was in HFTB, WH would have exploited HFTB as it would mean that WH ignoring a short with...

Re: TROUBLE BREWING (1924) Larry Semon, Oliver Hardy

Not many will be impressed as the video quality leaves much to be desired, so one may want to view it on a small screen. https://youtu.be/9swsunwEQsA Here's one you don't see much. One of my favorites THE AGENT (1922) has great production values. This recording from the last century looks like an im...

There is a Jaimito version of this film with about three more minutes of content.

Spencer Bell did another picnic bit the same year in THE GOLF BUG.

I first heard of P&P on Rob Farr's late lamented superb website MUGSHOTS. Oh how I miss that site.
