Re: Arthur Stone

That is truly welcome news, Richard! I know I'm not the only one looking forward to that book, and if it's out by Christmas it will be the perfect gift for anyone who would have attended Slapsticon. I figured you probably would have screened the extant Stone films, but I'll see if I can't find that ...

Re: Arthur Stone

Joe Moore wrote I only know of two of Stone's Roach films being extant- Sherlock Sleuth and Just a Good Guy. The series appears to have had a troubled production history. One entry (production number E-4) was abandoned after a week of shooting. Two others (E-9 and E-11) appear to have been completed...

Arthur Stone

I know very little about the "Billy West" of Langdon imitators, and there doesn't seem to be any published material beyond Richard Lewis Ward's book on the Roach studio. I'm curious about the consensus of opinion on Stone's work from anyone in this group, and also the extent to which these...

Re: Slapsticon 2011 program schedule

I'm impressed by the number of Lloyd Hamilton titles being screened. That alone is a big deal. I'm also looking forward to those Roach shorts, and to see what Rob Stone brings; WAR ITALIAN STYLE is a nice touch, and The Marx Brothers rarities sound promising. Even those Weiss Brothers shorts are pos...

Re: Fool's Gold

As you well know, the above list is fictional, and written purely for the amusement of the members on April Fool's Day. However obvious, I feel better adding this disclaimer, if only to stop the one guy who's going to try load up these titles on Wikipedia.

I'll see you all at Slapsticon!

Fool's Gold

Here at last, on this first day of April 2011, are the long-awaited notes of the late film historian Raymond K. Brownstrom. These edited highlights concern the ten lost comedies that have eluded collectors for decades, and are reprinted here with the kind permission of Hugh Jasprank. 1. SPAT FAMILY ...

Re: Stone Cold Restoration

Gary, do you happen to remember the title of that thread? I'd like to read it, but I can't seem to find it. (I'm probably blowing right past it.)

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Most optimistic ebay seller ever!

If you read the seller's description, you'll discover that it is a Roach feature, and it has never been released on DVD or VHS. Obviously, that kind of exhaustive research deserves a hefty payday.
