Re: Katherine Grant

Great job, Bill. Good detective work.
I've always liked her in the Charley Chase shorts and sometimes had wondered what ever became of her.
Can anyone find and post some stills or portraits of her that are more representative of her than that one accompanying the article?

Re: Lost Keaton

I think I noticed one blooper on the set: In the stills section there is a photo of Myra Keaton that is identified as coming from Palooka from Paducah. I think the still is actually from Myra's appearance in Way up Thar. It might actually be the same dress in the closing scenes from both films but ...

Re: El Brendel Died Too Soon

Because if he had lived another year or so he almost certainly would have had a nice supporting role in Bob Hope's I'll Take Sweden, which seemingly gave employment to every actor in H'wood who could fake a passable Swedish accent. Good point, Rob. I also sometimes wonder why El wasn't given a part...

Re: Shemp Slapped Jimmy Stewart Around?

I gotta admit that when I listened to Ron Hutchinson talk about Shemp Howard slapping Jimmy Stewart around in a Vitaphone short on his recent Leonard Lopate show appearance , I thought he was mistakenly converging the tame and kinda boring Chic Sale vehicle "Important News" with a Shemp s...

Re: George Jessel?

I also have copies of several of his radio shows, and the thing I recall most about them, in addition to the already mentioned occasional interesting guest star, is Jessel's frequent complaining...on air...about how difficult it is to do a radio show. That's no fun to listen to. Okay George, if it's...

Note the actual spelling on the film's title card:
"Harold Lloyd's Gigarette".

Re: Sennett 1930/31 Color shorts

Campus Vamp and Matchmaking Mama were released on DVD at least ten years ago with the restored Nothing Sacred (1937). That DVD is way out of print though because Lumivision went out of business. The two-color sequences were included on the disc (and Nothing Sacred was in gorgeous Technicolor.) They...

Re: Question - Lupino Lane

Does anyone know how many of Lupino Lane's sound Educational shorts are "out there"? I've had PURELY CIRCUMSTANTIAL on video for decades, and have seen FIRE PROOF a couple of times, but those are all. I'm looking forward very much to seeing FIRE PROOF again at Slapsticon (love the "bu...

Re: Keaton's The Blacksmith

Now that I know better, I can see that my Grand Initial Posting was, to say the least, pathetic. I just KNEW I'd be out of my depth here. Must try harder..... Richard W. Pathetic?? Certainly NOT! Why, your initial question was more interesting and informative than most answers one would find elsewh...

Who’s Who and What’s What in Filmland This Week Okay you won't become a "made man" but I'll give a gold star to the first mafioso who can tell me when Frankie played one of the Dead End Kids. Joe Moore The only one I can think of is the 1942 Universal serial JUNIOR G-MEN OF THE AIR. Darro...
