Re: Peggy Aarup
I have "Peggy O'Dare" listed in the cast of WELCOME HOME, a Royal Comedy released by Reelcraft late in 1920 or so, and "Peggy O'Day, The Thrill Girl" in PEGGY OF THE SECRET SERVICE, one the 1925-26 Shieks and Shebas Comedies from J. Charles Davis and Womack-McKnight, the same fol...

Under the Radar
Most of us can rattle off a servicable list of the best short sound comedies. In no particular order, I might list HELPMATES, THE MUSIC BOX, ANOTHER FINE MESS, THE PIP FROM PITTSBURGH, THE WRONG MISS WRIGHT, DIZZY DOCTORS, AN ACHE IN EVERY STAKE, THE KID FROM BORNEO, THE SITTER DOWNERS, and GRAND SL...

Re: C.L. Chester's ROARS AND UPROARS
In the fifth scan of the perspective grooms, the fellow on the left of Bobby Ray turned up in a ebay still with Virginia Rappe that was thought to perhaps be from A GAME LADY. There was some speculation that it's Jimmy Savo, but I don't know. I have a still from this vintage of a Sunshine Comedy wi...

Re: O'Conor Productions
O'Conor may have made at least some of these films earlier. The "Pulse of the Studios" section in the 11/12/21 issue of Camera! indicates a two reeler was being made by O'Conor Productions at Brentwood Studios, 811 Fountain, Hollywood, starring O'Conor and Franey, and directed by Thomas La...

Paramount Shorts
In the latter 1950's, National Telefilm Associates (NTA) in its own name, or perhaps in the name of "Famous Films," issued a catalog of the Paramount shorts that it was offering for television syndication. Besides the Fleischer / Famous cartoons, the catalog includes many of the various se...

Re: Bobby Burns in 1920?
Bobby Burns appeared in some of the Sun-Lite Comedies, which were produced by Shiller Productions, Inc. and released by Reelcraft in 1921 or thereabouts. The titles I have are BUNGALOW LOVE (with Al Alt), DON’T MARRY (or maybe DON’T MARY; I've seen it both ways), THE BROWN DERBY (with Billy Quirk) a...

Re: Hallroom Boys in "Conjuror James"
ONE SPOOKY NIGHT with Sid Smith was being played in theaters in 1928 or thereabouts, courtesey of William Pizor. A company called Capital (or Capitol) Productions had some involvement with these films. My guess is that this was the name of a Pizor company, because the company's name pops up in conne...

Re: Charley Bower's collaborator
In the 1970's or '80's (I think) animator Izzy Klein wrote a series of articles in Cartoonist PROfiles on his long career in animated cartoons. Charley Bowers was the star of a number of these stories, and they are worth hunting up for background on Bowers' pre-live action career.

Re: Now *Here's* an Unusual Question
A nursery rhyme that dates back to at least the nineteenth century, and maybe as far back as the seventeenth, reads as follows: Little Poll Parrot Sat in his garret Eating toast and tea; A little brown mouse Jumped into the house, And stole it all away ... and gave us the name of a comedian and a br...
