Six new Chaplin - Keaton locations in one 1920 aerial photo

Charlie Chaplin filmed his Mutual comedy shorts (1916-17) at the same small studio where Buster Keaton later filmed his independent shorts and features (1920-28). A rediscovered 1920 aerial photo reveals six new locations used by Chaplin and Keaton. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1637/25366541814_e8...

Chaplin in the warehouse district 100 years ago

Charlie filmed this scene from Work (1915) over 100 years ago in the old produce warehouse section of downtown. Thanks to the amazing clarity of the Essanay Blu-ray restoration from Flicker Alley, we can now see where he filmed, less than a mile from the Bradbury Mansion studio where he made the res...

Roscoe Arbuckle's Safety Last! stunt filmed before Harold's

This was filmed in front of the Beverly Hills Hotel, appearing in Chaplin's The Idle Class, and Lloyd's A Sailor-Made Man, and near Castle Rock, a very popular beach location, where Chaplin filmed The Adventurer. https://silentlocations.wordpress.com/2014/10/17/how-charlie-chaplin-filmed-the-adventu...

Keaton and Houdini connections on film

Buster Keaton dedicated his most famous short film Cops (1922) to Harry Houdini, the man Keaton credits as giving him his name. Remarkably, Cops was filmed at three places where Houdini filmed The Grim Game in 1919. https://silentlocations.wordpress.com/2015/11/19/houdini-keaton-the-grim-game-cops/ ...
