Re: Yes Virginia, there's gonna be a Charley Chase Roach Talkie set
This is very exciting news; I'm all in. (I never thought I'd see commentary tracks for any Chase talkies.) Thank you for persevering, Richard.

I just got your book, Thomas, and I already can't put it down! I'm hoping not to finish it before my summer vacation starts.

Bud Jamison at the very end! Has there yet been anything published on The Hall Room Boys? I've been using the guide from COLUMBIA SHORT DEPARTMENT. http://columbiashortsdept.weebly.com/th ... -boys.html

Re: THE GOOFY AGE (1924) Glenn Tryon
Was the superimposition of dialogue text over the action authentic, or was it unique to small gauge prints? (Perhaps to make it more affordable by saving a few feet of film.) I'm just curious, because I haven't seen it to this degree before.
Thanks for posting, by the way.

Good call! It makes you wonder if Chaplin immediately thought of the joke while watching the film.

In my opinion those Video Yesteryear silent films were the worst when it came to projection speed. They had two reelers at 35 minutes

Re: THE OLD WALLOP (1927) Our Gang
I finally got around to watching this. It's great to see another long-lost Our Gang silent; what are there about three still missing? Wheezer provides a great ending, though it's a little unnerving to see the Rascals in Harold Lloyd territory. (More so than say Laurel & Hardy in LIBERTY.) The re...

Re: WEISS-O-RAMA on sale through Amazon from Sprocket Vault
For me, the Snub Pollard shorts were the big draw, but I enjoyed watching them all. I was particularly surprised by Jimmy Aubrey, from whom I don't expect much, delivering some solid laughs. This is the coda to the silent comedy era, and genuinely hope to see another volume of Weiss Brothers comedie...
