Re: HER FIRST KISS (1919) Fox Sunshine Comedy

Please note that the website being sourced is the National Film Preservation Foundation and NOT the Library of Congress. Transfers on the NFPF site are done by the NFPF and not by LC. That's interesting, because when I wrote and complained to Annette Melville at the NFPF, she told me that the film ...

HER FIRST KISS (1919) Fox Sunshine Comedy

Again, transferred to damn slow, but here's a Sunshine Comedy with Slim Summerville and Ethel Teare: http://www.filmpreservation.org/preserved-films/screening-room/her-first-kiss-1919 It's getting pretty bad when the Library of Congress is transferring films like MOONLIGHT NIGHTS , a poor little 192...

LIFE WITH BUSTER KEATON: BUSTER IN THE JUNGLE (1951)

Here's an episode from Buster's 1951 filmed TV show I hadn't come across before. Buster goes on safari with Fritz Feld and hmmmm, somehow I had a feeling Ray Corrigan and his Gorilla suit was going to make an appearance:

Re: Cinevent Notes Past: MISSISSIPPI (1935) with W. C. Field

Well, boys'n'girls, the Curtis book is, indeed, a vast improvement on his other two...ahem....books. Tell me this, and tell me no more, is His Lordship's Dilemma lost? I have been able to find Pool Sharks on YouTube but no sign of t'other. Yep, HIS LORDSHIPS DILEMMA is currently missing. RICHARD M ...

Re: Shoulder Arms Wasn't the First WWI Comedy

Chaplin gets a lot of undeserved praise for his decision to make and release Shoulder Arms while soldiers were dying on the battlefield. Supposedly Cecil B. DeMille warned him against it. But Harold Lloyd released Kicking the Germ Out of Germany on July 21 1918 and Monty Banks was in the cast of Un...

Re: Bill "Wallace" Thompson R.I.P.

This is very sad news, not only was Bill Thompson an Arizona Legend, and a wonderful comic mind, he was also a friend. And unless you grew up in Arizona watching THE WALLACE AND LADMO SHOW in it's 36 years on the air, you won't get it. Here's a clip from the late 60's, with Bill playing a character...
