Re: HARRY LANGDON AT HAL ROACH: THE TALKIES 1929-30

Well i finally made it through the entire set -- commentaries and all, chronologically, and what can I say but bravo, bravo, bravo to all involved. Put it at the top of things I never thought I'd see in my lifetime -- and I've seen a pandemic in action! For what it's worth, my 2-cents and 5-stars on...

Re: HARRY LANGDON AT HAL ROACH: THE TALKIES 1929-30

Congratulations, Ed, on the speedy international receipt of your DVD! And what an extraordinary pleasure this set it. Those first two films are sheer genius and, in all honesty, really re-opened my eyes (which were once blinded by some of Harry's more eccentric "I'll eat my apple later" pe...

Re: HARRY LANGDON AT HAL ROACH: THE TALKIES 1929-30

Mine arrived today (Amazon Canada); I imagine the 5-star review will be in the pipeline pronto. Can't express enough gratitude to Kit Parker, Richard M Roberts and anyone else involved for making the boy's dream come true... a world in which HOTTER THAN HOT sits on my shelf.

Re: Help identifying faux Keystone Cops film?

Ed — interesting! I would’ve bought it if I was you, these variations are always fascinating. So thanks for posting the Italian version! I’m pretty sure the UK version retains the footage from THE GOLD GHOST and THE CANNONBALL, but can’t say with absolute certainty. I’ll need to give it another scan...

Re: Help identifying faux Keystone Cops film?

Thanks Ed! The film is the very definition of baffling. I’ve never seen the original French version, but whoever did it went to a lot of effort to doctor the footage (voila!): https://youtu.be/bXb_sQz63tk And very interesting to see clips from HYPNOTIZED, PALOOKA FROM PADUCAH and GOING BYE BYE jamme...

Help identifying faux Keystone Cops film?

screenshot477.jpg screenshot478.jpg screenshot479.jpg Need a little help from the Mafia hivemind... I'm trying to identify a film featuring a group of faux Keystone Cops; the presence of George Rowe indicates a Hal Roach production of the early/mid-30s; the inestimable Richard M. Roberts suggests i...

I’m spreading the word on (gasp!) Facebook and if it gets half as many sales as it does likes it’ll be a best seller.
