Martin & Lewis: Subject of my new book

Just released today: SIDE BY SIDE: Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis on TV and Radio , published by BearManor. Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis were the most successful comedy team of the 20th century, but if you’ve only seen them in movies, you haven’t really seen them. For years their only legacy was 16 ...

Re: Lost Charley Chase Comedy repremieres at Cinevent

Thoroughly enjoyed "The Way of All Dress" (UK title) at Cinevent. A lot of huge laughs by an enthusiastic crowd made it a real joy. Chase, as usual, was marvelous... but I think that dog stole the film!

Terrific news! The lost gems just keep on comin'. Looking forward to the day one of youse guys opens a musty can, pulls out a reel and sees "Hats Off" etched on the leader.

I'll be in the audience enjoying Mr. Parrott in Columbus, as usual. See you there!

Re: PHOTOPLAY Hollywood short (1919)

Some nice footage of Flying A's Santa Barbara studio. And I love that shot panning across three different stages, showing three different scenes (or films?) in progress.

Very saddened to hear this. Steve was indeed among the very best. My prayers and condolences go out to him and his family.

Harry Langdon's "Johnny's New Car"

A deep bow to Ed Watz, who found a blurb in EXHIBITOR'S TRADE REVIEW that "Johnny's New Car" with Harry Langdon was indeed filmed by Sol Lesser. Details here: http://littleelflangdon.blogspot.com/20 ... dence.html

Re: THE PILGRIM / First National alternate versions

I believe the negative of HEART TROUBLE had been already scrapped by Warners around 1953 due to advanced decomposition. Rohauer was given permission to personally search the WB vaults on both coasts but as we know not a single reel of HEART TROUBLE turned up, not even a trailer. Given the promotion...

Re: MACK SENNETT COLLECTION COMMENTARY TRACKS and ERRATA

Ha! There was no room left for anything more than what we did! Seriously, the material took up 99% of the available space on every disc. (We needed a shoehorn to wedge in the PDF for Joe Adamson's essay.) No room for another thing, even if it was only wafer thin... Michael Hayde SATURDAY AFTERNOON ...
