Re: Babe's 100th Anniversary

What is the earliest film of Oliver Hardy's currently available for viewing? That’s a good question, very few of Oliver Hardy’s Lubins exist, as far as I know, the earliest surviving one is still BACK TO THE FARM (released August 18, 1914) in which, oddly enough, Babe is teamed with the diminuitive...

Babe's 100th Anniversary

Okay, forget all this Chaplin Centenary Crap, today we're talking an important century milestone:

OUTWITTING DAD, released by Lubin, April 21, 1914.

100 years ago today, movie audiences got their first look at Oliver Hardy.

Re: SENNETT and CHAPLIN MUTUALS available for pre-order!

RICHARD M ROBERTS Which, for an item like this would be sizeable. It's Flicker Alleys decision and I basically have stayed out of the arguement either way (though I was a bit annoyed that I was going to have to buy a BD player as well to see a set I've worked on), but this arguement just tipped the...

Re: SENNETT and CHAPLIN MUTUALS available for pre-order!

Just to add my tuppence worth... Most USA Blu-Ray releases don't play on UK Blu-ray machines. The region codes are easily hacked on DVD releases but not on BD. This could prohibit a lot of European sales for Flicker Alley. Which, for an item like this would be sizeable. It's Flicker Alleys decision...

It sure does, didn't watch it that far, but it's easy to spot, it's the point Oliver Hardy dissapears.

Re: SENNETT and CHAPLIN MUTUALS available for pre-order!

What perfect timing! No one else gave Chaplin such a wonderful birthday persent (isn't 125 a milestone birthday?). I am so happy to see this finally released...after all your hard work! As to the decision to go Blu-ray, bravo! I have noticed that some films that have required a great deal of restor...

[Hang on to your hats, kids. I'm about to defend a Bush] Richard, I feel you need to cut Mr. Bush some slack. While he may not be much of a pronosticater concerning the durability of one of the movies great genres - the Western - he comes to his opinions honestly by one who has experienced and endu...

Cinevent Notes Past: THE BARGAIN (1914) with William S. Hart

“This is a weird spot on the Paramount program. It is a bold, I might even say reckless attempt to revive a style of motion picture that we had hoped was a thing of the past. Old-timers well remember the days when exchanges and newspapers cataloguing films divided them into “Drama”, “Comic”, and “we...

I love it Pasquale, you post the Greenbriar Article over at Lightweightville and Larusso can't be bothered to read it, facts hurt his eyes (and apparently his ego).
