Re: French Comedians at Pordenone
Enjoyed reconnecting in Pordenone too, Brent! The special issue of 1895 which provided the occasion for the French comedy retrospective can be ordered online, by the way: http://www.lcdpu.fr/livre/?GCOI=27000100003900&fa=sommaire . It contains a DVD of 20 selected French comedies. No soundtracks...

Re: Essanay 1910 comedies - help identifying actors
Dear Steve and David, thanks for the quick feedback! Yes, Karin is in touch with David Kiehn on this. In fact, he has identified one of the films to begin with, so I'm sure we'll get his take on identifying the actors also. Good point though! The restored films will premiere during this year's Porde...

Essanay 1910 comedies - help identifying actors
Hello, below is a research question from this year's Haghefilm Foundation Fellowship winner from George Eastman House, Karin Carlson. Hope some of you can help Karin with background information on the films she is restoring! Thanks, Uli Hi. I am currently trying to identify some actors from a couple...

Re: BBC Radio 4: Unknown Peter Sellers
Well, this Unknown Sellers : http://www.amazon.com/Peter-Sellers-Fred-Applegate/dp/B00004U0FP/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1284100255&sr=1-1 is still around, if officially OOP it seems, and like Glenn's radio piece, a great introduction to the artist. I wonder how many other Unknow Comed...

Re: Life With Buster
Let's see... there are the wonderfully surreal Gorilla Story and Detective Story . Then there's Haunted House and Time Machine , Collapsible Clerk and Fishing Story , plus the three episodes compiled as The Misadventures of Buster Keaton . I wonder, as a matter of fact, whether the titles I cite wer...

Re: Slapsticon Masterlist
The other day, I was browsing through past Slapsticon program books. Those screening notes would be a wonderful resource in some online or compiled form indeed...! I haven't seen any such list or database for either Cinecon or Slapsticon, but there is an online database for the Pordenone silent film...

Re: Footage will be restored to Kino Blu-ray of SHERLOCK JR.
A baby hitting the street is a rather uneasy thought, perhaps even in the Cruel and Unusual Comedy series! But anyways, specs are now out on amazon: SHERLOCK, JR.: Music by The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround and 2.0 Stereo, Music by The Club Foot Orchestra, Vintage ...

Re: Max Davidson and Roach "Female Comedy Teams" coming to DVD
Meanwhile, Stefan and Rob Stone gave a great Davidson presentation on the Bonner Sommerkino, where Stefan showcased some of his stills-plus-surviving-footage reconstructions, which in many passages work remarkably well. A glimpse of Hardy and Davidson in Love 'Em and Feed 'Em , courtesy of Rob Stone...
