Re: The Itching Hour (1931)

I am curious if anyone knows how common The Itching Hour is with Louise Fazenda and Max Davidson? i just picked up a print that has a replaced main title (Oh, What a Night) and sadly has water damage, but I haven't seen it before... Hey There Dino, Prints aren't that easy to come by, but I now know...

Well, Milton Berle felt you could never have "Too Much Johnson", at least, if the rumors were true.........

Cinevent Notes Past: NO MANS LAW (1927) w/ Oliver Hardy

Say, remember those episodes of STAR TREK where they went to an “alternate universe” and found exact copies of the leads except they were evil and got to wear beards and scars and the females got to dress slutty and be mean to folk? Well, NO MAN’S LAW pretty much drops you right into one of those co...

Re: NORTHWEST TRAIL (1945) w/ Bob Steele and Poodles Hannefo

Is Poodles given the opportunity to ride the rear end of a horse? Better yet, does his daughter Grace? I believe it was on your Weiss-O-Roni commentaries where you mention that the Hanneford name continued on in the circus trade with succeeding family members long after Poodles retired. http://hann...

NORTHWEST TRAIL (1945) w/ Bob Steele and Poodles Hanneford

Here's an amazing little 1945 Robert Lippert release with an incredible cast: Bob Steele, Joan Woodbury, John Litel, Raymond Hatton, Charles Middleton, Madge Bellamy in her only 1940's and final film role, and basically playing comedy-relief side-kick is Poodles Hanneford with his Daughter Grace Han...

Re: Nitrateville General Jack-Assery: A Load of Jitter-Judde

How do you play a banjo, cornet, and guitar all at once? With great difficulty, Richard. That's why I'm retired. Incidentally, I'm perfectly happy with you disagreeing with me disagreeing with you, even if I think YOU'RE wrong etc. etc. drone zzzzzzzz....... Glad we agree on a couple of orchestras ...

Re: Nitrateville General Jack-Assery: A Load of Jitter-Judde

Richard, I think that appreciation of accompaniments to silent films is a very subjective thing. I happen to like Mont Alto's scores a lot. I've just finished watching Cut To The Chase and, for me, Mont Alto's scores were the best of the lot and certainly not comedy-killing. The accompanists I real...

Re: Nitrateville General Jack-Assery: A Load of Jitter-Judde

Looked over at Nutrateville today and saw Rodney Sauer has joined the silly-ass argument today trying to justify the slowing down the speeds on silent films that apparently cause this so-called “Blu-Ray Jitter-Judder”. He says that variable speeds was common practice, “especially in the first-rate h...
