Re: SMILEAGE GUARANTEED HAL ROACH BOOK ON SALE NOW!
Excellent book. A compendium of invaluable information, very very liberally illustrated with wonderful stills. The product of years of work. All praise. My one substantial complaint is that the book should be longer. I'm perfectly aware that there are many books out there on Lloyd and Laurel & ...

Re: More Discoveries from the new version of The Blacksmith
You know, I hate to say this, but is it just me, I think it's you, Richard! Surely, the discovery of around 4 minutes of "new" Keaton footage from any era is important, if not quite in the "Thief Catcher" class, and John's researches are VERY interesting. However, in order to av...

Re: More Discoveries from the new version of The Blacksmith
You know, I hate to say this, but is it just me, or is all this holler about yet another version of THE BLACKSMITH not particularly hot news. We discussed several more of the variant versions floating around on THE BLACKSMITH on this group several years ago: http://www.silentcomedymafia.com/viewtopi...

Re: Slapsticon 2013 Reports Thread
One of the films that I've been remembering in the month that has passed is the Smitty short NO CHILDREN. Do many of these survive? This one was far better than I expected it to be; I mistakenly thought it would be an Our Gang imitation, like Hey Fellas. A few of them are around. I have one called ...

Nitrateville Answer Dept: Marceline Day Silents
Hey Calvert,
Marceline Day's first credited appearance in a Sennett short, BLACK OXFORDS (1924) survives, as does THE WHITE OUTLAW (1925) with Marceline and Jack Hoxie, which may come out from Grapevine Video one of these days.

Re: SMILEAGE GUARANTEED HAL ROACH BOOK ON SALE NOW!
Richard- Loved the fact that the Brothers Parrott were front and center on a book about Hal Roach Studios. One exception, you misspelled the occupation of Charley and Jimmie's father. It isn't "banker", it's spelled "bookie." I'm sure it will be corrected in a later edition. Nit...

Re: SMILEAGE GUARANTEED HAL ROACH BOOK ON SALE NOW!
Just finished reading RIchard's book and have two questions. 1) Page 187, top photo, the girl on the left is "unknown". But directly across the page, on 186, the photo for "The Caretaker's Daughter" shows what appears to be the same girl, here identified as Claudia Dell. Check t...

Re: Edgar Kennedy short THANKS AGAIN
Can someone please tell me if Edgar Kennedy's RKO short THANKS AGAIN (1931) is located at LOC? I looked through their online database and couldn't find it, but the db seemed to be incomplete. Thanks in advance for your help. It's there somewhere, but it didn't arrive for its Slapsticon showing. RIC...
