Book ID requested

I would like to know the title and author of a silent comedy book that appeared in the 70's. I haven't seen it since. The book was a 5X7 hardback, not too thick. It had chapters of various silent comedians with a full page photo of each. I remember the photos of Max Linder "shushing", Mabe...

Re: Final Screen Appearance of Marcel Perez

This segment was hard to watch. No one could ever accuse Perez of not having a work ethic.

Re: HIS HOME SWEET HOME (1919) Larry Semon

Don't forget Chai Hong who was also in this film. VENT ALERT! My youtube channel was shut down three times for phony copyright claims so I'm done with youtube. If you have three copyright claims in 30 days your channel is deleted by youtube. Someone would make three separate claims within minutes of...

Hal Roach Studios Query

What was the first Hal Roach film released that had a sound on film soundtrack as opposed to the sound on disc system that Roach studios started out with.

Thanks in advance.

Lloyd Hamilton Silent Comedian DVD

I received my Lloyd Hamilton DVD produced by Mssrs. Glass and Wyatt last night. What a joy. Being able to see a Ham short I have not seen before is always good business. That short was A HOME MADE MAN (1928), the second to last Hamilton Educational short. I didn't have my hopes up being a late Educa...

Re: Is Spencer Bell G. Howe Black?

Holy mackerel! McHenry and Bell die within a year of each other, both dying from the results of a blade, one in the street, the other in a bed. McHernry's death in 1934 shouldn't have surprised me, I mean after all, he was a male comedian who worked for Al Christie. Mc Henry's performance in GOOFY G...

Re: Is Spencer Bell G. Howe Black?

I find many black actors misidentified as Spencer Bell. In Lige Conley's FAST AND FURIOUS the servant is actually played by Harry Thaw, who was in many more silent comedies than Bell who is credited by many sources as the servant. However in the hand-car scenes in FAF Spencer Bell is indeed in some ...

Re: THE DUMMY (1916) Lupino Lane

I have always wanted to see some of Lupino Lane's British comedies. It is much different than his American slapstick shorts yet nonetheless fascinating. I am seeing jump cuts where people are touched or hit by another, likely censor cuts. It seems the surviving print of Lloyd Hamilton's THE OPTIMIST...

Re: Ben Model: Parallel betw. Cameraman and Singin' in the Rain

I wonder if Snub Pollard's inclusion in the SITR scene was coincidental or part of the homage to the Keaton scene. Its likely the former as Snub would not be recognized by the people who still remembered him.

Re: HOLD `ER COWBOY (1928) Bobby Vernon, Andy Clyde

Though I have a monochrome file of this title I did check this out anyway and it had a wonderful tint to the print I had not seen before. However I found a link on Youtube on this film's page for Vernon's CORNFED (1924), a title that has eluded me before now. I noticed a cameraman credit for Alfred ...
