Recently came across a large 9.5mm chunk of the Paul Parrott / Hal Roach NO PETS (10/7/1923) on youtube. Listed as Le Comiche - l'ospite importuno, the footage also features Noah Young, George Rowe, and Mark Jones. Here's a link:

Re: Unidentified pic
Hi Frank - Great detective work on Harry Vokes. I have a portrait of he and Hap Ward, but without that bizarre make-up that makes him look half man and half French poodle. I've found synopsis for both BEAUTY IN DISTRESS ('15) and THE HOUSE PARTY ('15), and it looks like Louie's shot is from BEAUTY I...

Re: Is this really Max?
Hi guys Comica was a unit of Pathe's from about 1910 to 1914, that was located in Nice and headed by Romeo Bosetti. They turned out the "Little Moritz" shorts with Maurice Schwartz and Sarah Duhamel, the "Bigorno's" with Rene Lantini, the "Rosalie's" with a solo Sarah D...

Re: Kitty Howe
Hi Tom
Pretty sure Jay A. and "Kitty" Howe are the same person. I've come across items in the 1920s trades about "Kitty" Howe directing at Roach, and I've also seen ads in the Film Daily Yearbook for J.A. "Kitty" Howe.

Ah Tom, that's great. When he's older you'll have to get him a Fox Sunshine Comedies bib.

Re: Jack Duffy animal comedy
Hi Dino - Yeah SCHOOL PALS ('24) was originally a two-reeler. All of the Fox Monkeys comedies (with Max, Moritz and Pep) were two-reelers, with the exception of their feature DARWIN WAS RIGHT ('24).

Re: Marcel Perez
Hi Andrew - I've seen this Dorothy Earle piece before and it looks like it's pretty mostly puff. By 1921 they were married and had a one year-old son (Marcel Jr.). It seems that they met while he was doing the Jesters in New Jersey, probably late in 1918 as Dorothy takes over as his leading lady in ...

Re: Marcel Perez
Hi David - That print of YOU'RE NEXT is one that Rob Stone, Ben Model and I turned up at LOC. Jester was the comedy unit put together by producer William Steiner to star Perez, and the shorts were directed by Perez and William Seiter (in 1918). Most of the Jesters were shot in Cliffside, New Jersey,...

I just wanted to mention that the info and photo was provided by yours truly, but I'm not their correspondent at the Library of Congress.

Re: MOSTLY LOST
I second all of David's motions - it was fantastic. Thanks again to Rob, Rachel and the Mt. Pony staff for all the hard work in putting it together.
