Re: Mabel's Blunder - Who is Mabel's Brother?

Phil, I've tried for quite a while before the book came out to ID Mabel's brother, but he's somebody I've never seen before and have no good guesses (other than being 100% sure it's not Al St. John). By the way, I still can't say conclusively myself (and I also know Bo Berglund can't) that the woma...

Re: Mabel's Blunder - Who is Mabel's Brother?

Yep, I recognized McDonald and Hauber as well. Brent's book has no credit for the brother, so he hadn't id'd her as of the writing. Thanks for looking Steve-o!

Re: Mabel's Blunder - Who is Mabel's Brother?

The film is on You Tube, so you can look for yourself. It's hard to capture frames from YT but my tries are below. The film has an interesting cast: Mabel, Harry McCoy, Charles Bennett, Helen Carruthers (as Harry's sister - a big part for her), Charley Chase. Mabel's brother is not played by St. Joh...

Re: RUM AND WALLPAPER (1915)

What do we know about Eddie Nolan? When did he start at Keystone? Phil, the "we" who bought Mack Sennett's Fun Factory (which hopefully is or will be a whole lot of "wes"), know a whole lot about Eddie Nolan, because it's all there -- his many Keystone credits (including a whole...

Re: SLAPSTICON 2010 to unveil lost and unknown Chaplin Film

A few small points of correction to the various news articles: The film was not labeled. I unspooled a few feet and recognized it as an early Keystone title. I set the print aside for cleaning and repair as there were damaged sprockets and bad splices. Upon screening the print a few months later, I...

Re: SLAPSTICON 2010 to unveil lost and unknown Chaplin Film

It was mentioned in Peter Haining's British book about Chaplin referencing a 1965 interview. Chaplin's last interview was in 1966 around the time of Countess by Richard Meryman. It appeared in the UK Guardian and US Life in 1967, but he doesn't mention being a Cop. As I've said elsewhere, this is a...
