Re: Cinevent Notes Past: MISSISSIPPI (1935) with W. C. Field

It's high time I re-watched this. My favourite Fields from the mid-30's would be You're Telling me and The Old Fashioned Way . Mississippi is a film I've seen once only. Incidentally, for any UK mafiosi on here, this set is the bizness: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-W-C-Fields-Collection-DVD/dp/B000V...

Orson Welles plays Falstaff on THE DEAN MARTIN SHOW (1967)

Thinking back on it now, I just may have been introduced to Orson Welles by his appearances on THE DEAN MARTIN SHOW. He made a number of them, and they were frequently nice classy bits like this one, imagine anyone performing Shakespeare on a Variety show, even if those still existed, on Network Tel...

MARX BROTHER TV COLLECTION Review

To quote one of Groucho Marx’s frequent generic punchlines to any sort of set-up, “well, it’s about time”. I received this set yesterday and it is everything one would hope for and more. An awful lot of folk out there these days probably only know the Marx Brothers from the bakers dozen movies they ...

Along with W. C. Field's radio juggling.

Re: The Monty Python Backlash has begun......

Richard, I think you are being intentionally taunted here. Are you sure that this Mr. Reagan hasn't been sent over from N-Ville to get your goat? Or worse yet, from the John Wayne Looneys?? Oh, MIchael's okay, if not perhaps my go-to person on rating comedians. RICHARD M ROBERTS ( Now--- go away or...

Re: LOOSER THAN LOOSE PUBLISHING TO CLOSE

It's only devastating news for those who have been living under a rock. Ever since the DVD format has came along anyone with half a brain can see that the high quality products that were being released by.....say a company like KINO, should suddenly appear in tact from an entirely different entity,...

Nope. That's it....and I've seen 'em all, kid.

So, which is your favorite Smiling Billy Mason?

George Clarke.

Re: A Harry Langdon Mystery

An exciting discovery; this one could be hiding in plain sight in a can that everyone assumes is an Our Gang short. I hope many prints were struck. Dave Denton said the same thing to me the other night, all archives should immediately check their cans marked "Mail and Female" now to make ...

Re: The Monty Python Backlash has begun......

That's right, bud. BTW, there's no "all those other comedians" - just the two, Keaton and Chaplin. Aww, come on MIke, there must be other comedians you dislike, don't tell me you've seen them all? You've already admitted to disliking the Pythons, Chaplin, and Keaton, so that's three right ...
