Re: Movie Morlocks First Slapsticon 2013 report

This is great. I'm in the process of compiling my own favorite Slapsticon moments...would be great to hear from as many people who care to share.

Hal Roach Oddity on Monday at 6:00am

Perhaps in honor of the Slapsticon's time-honored tradition of screening the rarest oddities around, tomorrow morning at 6:00am EDT TCM will be showing "Men of the North", a 1930 Hal Roach-directed Northwest Canadian Mounted Police Northern. The cast (which headlines Gilbert Roland) and cr...

Re: What was found at MOSTLY LOST 2

In several cases we didn't get a title (yet) but identified some of the actors. We all suspect some of the hard-to-ID comedies were saddled with generic titles having nothing to do with plot: "In Trouble".

Re: Richard M.Roberts Banned from Nitrateville

And when you point out how many opportunities exist to see things at cons, festivals, cable channels and on DVD/Blu, the inevitable response is, "I can't afford these things like you rich fellas." Well, there is more rare film material online than you could ever watch in a lifetime, much o...

Re: Jerry Lewis in Bologna, Cannes

You know, it's great that Jerry is around and healthy enough to enjoy these tributes, but the Guardian's headline, "Jerry Lewis: 'Women Doing Broad Comedy Bothers Me'" really bothers me. Jerry Lewis is a time traveller from another generation and we are really lucky to have him with us in ...

Re: THE NAMES THE SAME with Chico Marx 1955

Whatta fraud! Based on absolutely no clues at all Mike Wallace shouts out, "Does Chico have the Hope Diamond in his pocket?"

Short piece speculating on the lost film, but for those that are curious about the trailer, here's a peek:

Re: Nitrateville Answer Dept: Blackhawk Cassettes

I think the jazz band you're referring to is the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. They have plenty of CDs and MP3s available. Don't know if they actually scored Safety Last or whether the accompaniment was done by needle drop from their catalog. Anyone know?

Re: Billie Ritchie's Salary at L-Ko

I think it was just a case of puffery to make Ritchie sound more important that he really was. And I speak as someone who gets paid $10,000 a week just for putting up ocassional posts here.

Re: Sally Starr (1923 - 2013)

Sally hosted on WFIL-TV 6 in Philadelphia which was where I watched her almost from infancy. She was very generous with her time and made personal appearances not only at my school but many other local events, parades, etc. So sad that she had financial troubles at the end of her long life. Folks no...
