Re: The Monty Python Backlash has begun......

That's right, bud.

BTW, there's no "all those other comedians" - just the two, Keaton and Chaplin.

Re: Richard M.Roberts Banned from Nitrateville

1. You are not actually entitled to see any of this stuff. 2. You are damn lucky to be seeing so much that you are seeing and for so little. 3. Whining about imperfections in 80-100 year old films that may barely survive at all or in less then perfect condition only shows your ignorance and ingrati...

Re: Peter O' Toole JEFFREY BERNARD IS UNWELL (1999)

I've seen this play. It was, indeed, excellent. I used to be an avid reader of Bernards column here in the Daily Mirror, back in the day. O'Toole was the business in this role, though even he would not have been able to keep up with Jeffrey when it came to drinking. I haven't seen O'Toole in anythin...

Re: "The Amazing Years of Cinema."

Thanks for those Richard. Yes, this is the first place I ever saw the FRANKENSTEIN clip.

I can understand why HOLLYWOOD may have cast this into the shadows somewhat, though from what I can remember, AMAZING... would only compliment HOLLYWOOD. A release would be nice.

Re: "The Amazing Years of Cinema."

Yeah, I always enjoyed Fairbanks in that show. It was my introduction to silent cinema and I'd be interested in seeing it again. There were a lot of clips if I recall correctly. I've been unable to track it down in any form, but, I guess it's worth asking around.

"The Amazing Years of Cinema."

This was a series which aired on Irish TV back in the mid to late '70's on silent cinema. It was hosted by Doug Fairbanks Jnr.
Does anybody know anything about it? Who produced the series? Is it available in any form?

Re: Poe adaptations?

Essanay's version of THE RAVEN sounds quite modern, what with intermixing the life of the author with the re-telling of one of his most famous stories. I agree. It's one I'd like to see. I'm reading a Poe biography at the moment so I'm trying to get hold of as much of the film history as I can. Tha...
