Re: Will Rogers in State Fair on TCM

I remember back when I did this, the guy at the memorial told me that the Fox features were a gift from Fox when they opened in the late 30s. Those prints must have been gorgeous at one time. I didn't know enough about film at the time to appreciate them. I still have a couple of VHS tapes I made at...

Re: Will Rogers in State Fair on TCM

In the early 80s I was production manager at the Tulsa PBS station. We were volunteered by the station manager to tranfer all the 16mm owned by the Will Rogers Memorial. There were some silent Goldwyn features, at least one independant feature, the Roach shorts, a bunch of one-reeler travelogues and...

Re: Laurel & Hardy: The Essential Collection

Got mine today. Beautiful stuff. I'm thrilled to have this set! Since I have most of the films in 16mm I've seen them all a number of times, so my first move was to listen to all the commentaries. Only listened to Hog Wild so far. I'm really enjoying this.

Ben Turpin DVDs on Oldies.com

I was browsing on Oldies.com and I saw two DVDs of Ben Turpin films. They were only about $6 and I was wondering if anyone here had seen them and if they were worth the trouble. Thanks.

Re: Laurel and Hardy on Blu-Ray...?

I got the blu-ray but haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I love the MGM/UA disc because it's the original Babes in Toyland and not a patched up March of the Wooden Soldiers print. What version is on the blu-ray? Does it have the original MGM titles?

Re: SLAPSTICON 2010 to unveil lost and unknown Chaplin Film

Paul, do you know the origin or age of the 16mm print? Was it something made for the home market?
