Re: Becoming Charley Chase - July 28 Release
I just finished watching disc 1 showcasing Chase's leading man work at Keystone. Fine prints and good speeds. I grew up renting Blackhawk films and it seemed that in my youth the Keystones were always racing through my projector a-mile-a-minute so it's nice revisiting them at a normal pace where, as...

Re: Here's the BECOMING CHARLEY CHASE booklet
Does everyone own a laser printer at home? I have a basic printer. It has a crank to start it up and there is a little treadmill inside that small critters run on to generate power and my usual choice of paper to print on is yellow paper direct from the Amazon Rain forest. All very professional look...

Re: Neighborhood House
And yet that same year L&H's "Our Relations" featured a gangster element in their film. I guess they were nicer than the ones Chase depicted - all they did was encase the Boys feet in cement.

Re: Neighborhood House
I've commented on this short before on various obscure web sites and while I've always enjoyed it I could definitely imagine Chase expanding the situation out to another 4 reels. As Rob says just as the action picks up the short ends. Don't suppose there are some undiscovered cannisters of outtakes ...

Re: Locomotives and Comedy
Thanks everyone for the compliments. I believe the rules on YouTube are that clips from copyrighted material can be shown as long as it is part of a larger work of your own creation. At least that's how I understand it. And it's not like I'm making any money doing it. It's just how I amuse myself. T...

I think I'll be visiting "Gilligan's Island" before I go visit "Stroke Island."

Re: Becoming Mr. Laurel
Very informative Chris. This piece filled in quite a few questions I had concerning the 'Langdon influence.' I need to see all of his shorts he made at Roach. I've only caught "The Head Guy" and the whole thing is a head scratcher, although I still giggle when he blurts out the apple line....

Re: Becoming Mr. Laurel
Unlike the majority of you folks on this site I am not a researcher. I can only observe everything I watch and try to put it all in some reasonable sense of history. Thanks for confirming the 'Karno training' aspect, Richard. I don't like making blanket statements about things that I feel are right ...
