Re: Montgomery and Rock
Thanks, Steve. I had been told before they might only have one film, so that answers that. I wonder about the other four titles. Why are they in the database, where are they, etc.? When you say the BFI has material, what exactly would that mean in this case? Does anyone have friends at the BFI? They...

Montgomery and Rock
I was perusing the BFI database (off the Bioscope link) and for the fun of it, entered Joe Rock. I didn't see any M & R titles, but there were 5 under Earl Montgomery: DAMSELS AND DANDIES, CAVES AND COQUETTES, RUGES AND ROBBERS (ALL 1919), KNIGHTS AND NIGHTIES (1920) and LOVE AND LATHER (it said...

siblings
I was browsing 'Who was who on Screen' and noticed Stan Laurel's brother (Ted Jefferson) supposedly made films. Harry Keaton made films (was he actually Buster's brother? I don't recall). Anyone know if they were any good? Leading roles or support? Was Wheeler Dryden anything but support? It seems t...

Re: short comedies on EYE
They have added a few more:'The Laird of McGillicuddy' (Essanay 1913) with Gus Carney and Billy Mason, 'The Making Over of Mother' (Christie 1916) with Neal Burns, Betty Compson (and Dave Morris?, Stella Adams?) and "Park Your Car" with Pollard, Mosquini (and Hughie Mack?). Sorry, I don't ...

short comedies on EYE
If you have been reading the "Dinty" thread on Nitrateville, Steve Massa has listed quite a few of the silent comedies viewable on Thought Equity. In addition, if you decrease the duration to perhaps 200 seconds, you will find shorter material (4 to 10 minutes)for example, two IMP comedies...

I think Paul has a time machine. How about finding a Montgomery and Rock?

Re: Essanay 1910 comedies - help identifying actors
SteveR,
He certainly has "Walthall" hair, but if this is 1910, he would still be at Biograph, right? I don't think Walthall came to Essanay until 1914. I think you're right about it not being Harry Todd. Could the guy under the cap be Richard Travers?

Re: Essanay 1910 comedies - help identifying actors
Hello Uli, Don't laugh, but the cop pointing at Harry Todd sure looks like J.Warren Kerrigan. Blum's book (pg. 29) and Slide's 'Early American Cinema' (pgs 75-76) both have group shots of Essanay Players (probably circa 1912). Maybe they would help. Has anyone tried David Kiehn? Hope it helps, David

Re: Heinie & Louie
Rob,
We viewed a Heinie & Louie at Slapsticon a couple of years back, "It's a Hard Life", it's at LOC. Do you think that was a "post Kendig" H & L? It seemed later than 1915. I think Crimmins and Gore are in there as well.
