Re: A BLITZ ON THE FRITZ (1943) Harry Langdon, Vernon Dent

This is great! I could see the punchline coming a mile away, but very well done.

I had to think of this TV commercial - for Germans to learn better English - under this thread:

Buster Keaton in UK ad for the "Rover Metro"

He probably would've been happier in a Stutz Bearcat (or even a Model T):

Re: SCREEN SNAPSHOTS (1920) Roacoe Arbuckle, Charlie Murray, Sessue Hayakawa

A priceless scene. Sessue Hayakawa somehow appears apprehensive at the notion of accidentally being body-slammed by Roscoe. Besides Hayakawa, was there any dramatic star who could lay claim to appearing with two of Paramount's biggest comedy attractions from two different eras - in Sessue's case, Ro...

WHAT'S MY LINE - OLSEN & JOHNSON (1953)

Pretty funny session thanks to the team's reactions to the questions. Meanwhile the panel guesses three other comedy teams before getting it right.

A BLITZ ON THE FRITZ (1943) Harry Langdon, Vernon Dent

Starts at the 4-minute mark. English with Spanish subtitles. Harry at 58 is at his most animated possibly since HIS NEW MAMA (1924), thanks to Jules White's off the rails direction. Script by Clyde Bruckman copies the finale of Harold Lloyd's PROFESSOR BEWARE, released a scant 5 years earlier. If Ha...

EL SHOW DE ABBOTT Y COSTELLO

The Abbott & Costello Show, dubbed in Spanish. The episode (Lou The Politician) starts at the 9:55 mark. Unlike the usually horrible French, Italian and German dubs of American comedians, the Spanish seem to have made great effort to capture a reasonable facsimile of the performer's voice. Lou C...

Re: THREE AGES Cohen Media Restoration - Amazon Review

Ed, Thank you for the replies . I will go with the 2017 as you noted. Then stream (to my smartTV) through a computer media player which allows me to speed playback up. I'm thinking 9 or 10% will do. It wont be totally optimal, but for me it usually is an improvement over slug like playback. Yes the...

Re: THREE AGES Cohen Media Restoration - Amazon Review

Here's an excerpt of THREE AGES running at 24 fps, the identical frame rate to 16mm and 35mm film prints. At this speed THREE AGES clocks in at 56 minutes. If you compare this scene to a Kino or Lobster edition (63 minutes) or the latest Eureka/Cohen edition (70 minutes), you'll immediately see the ...

Re: THREE AGES Cohen Media Restoration - Amazon Review

Hi Ed, Which Blu-ray (or DVD) version would you recommend that runs with a bit more pep? Hi Rift, Well, I had a fairly long reply written up, got interrupted, and lost everything! So now, to keep it brief - there are 3 authorized Blu-Rays to date: 1) 2010 Kino on Video - out of print but many copie...
