Must be something else Gary. I once burned down Richard's house and a year later flooded out his new house in an unfortunate bathroom malfunction. Surprisingly, he still invites me over for screenings when I'm in town, though I am required to wear restraints while watching films.

There are two nice late Max Davidson cameos on archive.org, just waiting to be downloaded to your desktop or iPhone. One is a well-done B-western starring Johnny Mack Brown called Rogue of the Range (1936) . Just as in Roamin' Wild, Max plays a travelling salesman. He wanders onto the scene at 22:37...

Many of the Shemp Howard Vitaphones are hilarious. Some, like "His First Flame" (1935) are played out in front of stage flats that don't even try to convey the illusion of reality. Shemp's Vita shorts, along with Arbuckle's are long overdue for the box set treatment. Or at least some scree...

Watching NH on TCM this afternoon, it's pretty clear that the short is simply the first two reels of the feature, crudely terminated at the twenty minute point when Charley's boss wins the jackpot. And the punchline is...there is none. It is hard to believe that the fun had at the expense of the Ban...
