An interesting question. The fellow playing Sharpe is very actorly, so my first hunch is to say no, however, searching around the net and my personal library comes up with not one picture of the real Sharpe, and I can also find no actor listed as playing the part, and considering Ziegfeld and others involved are also making cameo appearances, it's a hard call.

Maybe Steve Massa can check the New York Public Library files and come up with a pic of the real Sharpe.
