Thanks for posting this Dave, but one correction: don;t let the Screen Gems logo fool you, that was stuck on there from some other print. this is one of the Sol Wurtzel-produced B pictures after Fox wiped out their in-house B-picture unit in 1945 (the one they would have kept open for Laurel and Hardy if they had re-signed with Fox). Wurtzel, who had been a producer at Fox since the 1920's, went independent and supplied Twentieth Century-Fox with these very cheap B's shot quickly and off the lot until 1949. They were definitely Twentieth Century-Fox releases.
That said, they can be fun little crime films, with good casts of veteran supporting actors. There's another one called DANGEROUS MILLIONS from 1946 thats on Youtube, and another pretty good one called THE CRIMSON KEY that was run at Cinevent a few years ago. I don't think Fox currently owns them, and they certainly haven;t turned up on the Fox Channel or elsewhere in recent years.
Hank Mann had a nice little speaking role in ROSES ARE RED as Peggy Knudsen's boss at the newspaper.
