Exactly my thoughts today Mr. Migliore, a long-time favorite of mine, it's still the finest thing Roy Clarke ever wrote (along with A FOREIGN FIELD), even if it wasn't about the early years of Cinema, it is full of wonderful characters, lines I still quote to others ("Did somebody die in whose memory you're working at a funereal pace!", "that's our profession, the noble art of killing time"), and a splendid cast, including the now sadly late and lamented Mr. Hoskins, who, though he was frequently brilliant, was never better than he was here. I'm glad they finally tracked down all the episodes a few years back so they could do a DVD release, so I could retire my aged VHS copies of the MASTERPIECE THEATER broadcast, even though I don't get to see the Musty Suffer shorts they ran as filler at the end of the episodes anymore.
Boy, Peter O'Toole and Bob Hoskins in the last 12 months, I hope Michael Caine hangs around awhile.
