Nanette Fabray RIP

No one lives forever -- except, perhaps, Shirley MacLaine. This is where we ring down the final curtain for Filmdom's finest.

Nanette Fabray RIP

Postby Richard M Roberts » Sat Feb 24, 2018 3:21 am

A truly talented, intelligent, brilliant, amazing and amazingly very nice woman who perhaps did not get as many opportunities in preservable media to shine, but when she did, she was amazing.

One more time, one of those shining moments that has always been one of my favorites, the SHADOW WALTZ sketch she performed with Sid Caesar on CAESARS HOUR, one of the funniest sketches from that show. Fabray took over from Imogene Coca on that show after Max Liebman broke up the YOUR SHOW OF SHOWS cast and gave Coca her own program. Some "experts" think Coca was not topped as Caesar's feminine foil, but this bit works because of what Fabray brings to it, it would not have worked with Coca:

Truly, rest in peace Nanette.
