Terry Jones RIP

Good God, we've lost two Pythons within the month, the World is becoming a far less (intentionally) silly place.

Of all the Pythons, Terry Jones was the one who harked back to silent comedy the most, he was a very visual performer, and his directing style also understood the importance of how it looked to make it funny. He was a great admirer of Buster Keaton and the silent comedians in general.

The non-Python films he directed were admittedly a mixed lot, but PERSONAL SERVICES was a good one, and MR. TOAD'S WILD RISE was easily the most strange and interesting film Disney put out in the 1990's. Jones was also a brilliant and fascinating medieval historian.
