John was a long-time collector of stills and film, author of a good book, SECOND FEATURE:THE BEST OF THE B'S, among others, and his still collections had adorned and illustrated many, many books. I knew him reasonably well, had bought and traded with him over the years, usually ran into him at the Syracuse Cinefest.

He had been missing from his home in Brooklyn since the middle of May, his body was apparently found Thursday. I have no other details.
