"new" EYE Film - NO PARKING 1921

Postby John Bengtson » Tue Jul 24, 2018 7:33 pm

Here's a fun film from Eye Film Institute - "No Parking" Director: Scott Sidney | Production Country: United States | Year: 1921 | Production Company: Christie Film | Film from the collection of EYE (Amsterdam) - http://www.eyefilm.nl

I know nothing about the movie, but it has some "One Week" moments, and the scenes at 2:06 onward were filmed on Bunker Hill, Grand looking north to the Lovejoy Apartments and the Angels Flight Pharmacy at the corner of 3rd - the corner where Harold Lloyd filmed so often. The same setting was used in the remake of "M"

John, the embed function for Youtube videos no longer works, better just to link the video like you did.

NO PARKING is indeed a cute Neal Burns comedy, he was a good and reliable Christie comic who went back with Al Christie (along with Burn's brother Eddie Barry) to Christie's days at Nestor and stayed to the end of the Silent Era. Sam Gill got to interview him when he was living at the Motion Picture Home in the late 60's.

In the Christie/Bobby Vernon short ALL JAZZED UP (1920) the Angel's Flight line is part of the plot. One gets a good look at the Angel's Flight operations.

I remember in the '70's there was a cheesy line of polyester leisure suits called "Angel's Flight."
