GOOSE FLESH (Lloyd Hamilton... and Charles Gemora?)

Hi all,

on behalf of a good friend, does anyone have info on whether this film survives and is available anywhere? It likely has a very early appearance of Charles Gemora of simian slapstick and horror fame. Stills that might help answer that question (or in fact any info on silent era fake Gorilla men that pre-date the usual suspects such as Gemora or Ray Corrigan) would be welcome, too!

Weird, I know...!

Hi Uli
This one seems to be completely lost (at least at the moment). I've never heard of a print being anywhere, and there's nothing listed on the FIAF Treasures database.

You probably already know this, but Gemora makes an early appearance in the Bobby Vernon Christie/Paramount WHY GORILLAS LEAVE HOME (1/12/1929).

Hello Steve & Guten Tag Uli...
Steve: How do I join the FIAF online electronic resource.
Is it available to individuals? Believe me I've tried and had a hard time.
Thanks,

SteveR

Hiya StevO
Don't know if individuals can enroll in the FIAF electronic services. Libraries and cultural institutions can - in the New York area I know that MoMA and the Lincoln Center Library are connected. That's one of the reasons I used to practically live at the Library before I worked here (which is one of the ways I ended up with the job). I'll see if I can find any contact info. You may have already done this, but you could check around to some of the libraries and cultural orgs. in Philly to see if any of them have it in their electronic resources.

Thanks so much Steve.
I tried Penn University and they have it but, for some strange reason, can only access their perodicals, not the FIAF archive of film.
My next step is to try Temple University who also apparently has it and, hopefully that elusive electronic archive.
I'm trying to see what Turpin titles currently survive to document the extant "availability" info for Ben's filmography.
Thanks again, Steve, I'm off to Temple at our earliest convenience! Have a great holiday to you and everyone here!

Hi Dino! Long time! Good to see & hear from you again...
Yes, I wanted to access the FIAF site to find out all the extant Ben Turpin titles in archives around the world.
I asked a friend who was having a hard time getting on the site and she just gave up from Univ of Penn.
And my son had a hard time too, with his Temple University connections. I've been pulling my hair out!
If you get it, maybe you can email it to me via Facebook? Whatever's easiest for you.
Any help is really appreciated, Dino; thank you my friend.

Steve

Here's a Gemorra title you may not have, MY FAVORITE WIFE (Fox 7-22-28) , an entry in the silent VAN BIBBER IN SOCIETY series, with Tyler Brooke.
