A book long needed to be written. I look forward to reading it.

Excellent news -- I've enjoyed both authors' previous books immensely.

Hello Mafiosi:

What happened to this book?
It's not on the Bear Manor Media website.
Was it ever released? Or is it just out of print?

Well, we gave Ed and Bill a couple of days to respond themselves, but no, the book hasn't come out yet. We can assume that life and other distractions have made it's release date get pushed ahead a bit. No one does this for a living, so seldom is bookwriting a priority in one's existence. We know when it comes out, it will be a great book.

Richard,

As always, thanks.

Yes, I know just about any project mentioned on this site is a labor of love, and I appreciate that!

Sorry for the delay in responding - and sorrier for the delay in this book appearing!

But I'm glad to report that the book will finally be out in 2018. In keeping a promise to Eleanor, I've done my best to illustrate the book with photos that have not been plastered all over the internet (or at least not yet, anyway). Which means that it's taken an enormous amount of time and research -- not to mention my own money -- to make this book as informative and entertaining as possible. Unfortunately most of the stills from Buster's MGM period have been widely copied but nevertheless we've still got a few surprises to share on those features. The bulk of the rare images collected are from Buster's Educational two-reelers; his Columbia shorts; and his French starring feature LE ROI DES CHAMPS-ELYSEES. Easily over a hundred of the Buster images will be new to most viewers, and many of the other photos ain't all that common, either.

The book cover is being redesigned, and once we have it firmed up The Mafia will be the first place it's posted.

Thanks to everyone for your patience -- and your interest!

What's a four year wait among friends? I for one am eagerly awaiting its publication, and will plunk down my hard-earned cash for a copy as soon as it's announced! Thank you for a work that promises to cast Keaton's later work in a far more positive light that some of its predecessors.
