CineMuseum LLC Acquires Zouary / Educational Comedies Library

Postby CineMuseum » Mon Nov 13, 2017 2:28 pm

On October 21, 2017 CineMuseum LLC officially acquired control of the legendary Maurice Zouary estate, securing exclusive right, title, and interest to the short subject comedies of the Educational Films library (1929 - 1938) which includes the sound comedies of Buster Keaton, Harry Langdon, Lloyd Hamilton, Bob Hope, Bert Lahr, Edgar Kennedy, Ford Sterling, Glenn Tryon, Daphne Pollard, Andy Clyde, Harry Gribbon, Monty Collins, The Ritz Brothers, Moran and Mack, Imogene Coca, Bing Crosby, Lupino Lane, Danny Kaye, Billy Gilbert, Jackie Coogan, Irene Ryan, Johnny Hines, Milton Berle, Joan Davis, Louise Brooks, Shirley Temple, comedies produced by Mack Sennett, the Educational sound comedies directed by Roscoe Arbuckle, and much more!

On that same day, CineMuseum also took possession of the physical motion picture archive which consists of approximately three tons of master materials (negs, FGMs, composites, etc.) which represent the best known surviving materials for these long unavailable comedy short subjects, as well as a large cache of as yet unidentified materials.

CineMuseum is executing 4K digital transfers and full restorations of all Zouary / Educational materials in order to finally put them back into circulation via DVD, Blu-ray, streaming, television airings, and theatrical screenings -- as they were meant to be seen!

This project has been 12 years in the making and many people pitched in to make it happen. CineMuseum (Brittany Valente, Lisa Tatge, Kirk Miller) join me in thanking those who consulted to help save this archive from destruction: Dean Vanderkolk, Richard M. Roberts, Ron Hutchinson, Ed Watz, Chris Seguin, Brent Walker, Jack Dragga, David B. Pearson, Tom Meyers, Ralph Deluca, Bob Borgen, Patricia Tobias, The International Buster Keaton Society, Ian Friedman, and everyone else who kept the secret while it was happening, and again after the task was completed! Sincere thanks to you all.

CineMuseum is currently examining and cataloging all of the master materials and is unable to answer any questions regarding specific titles, content, release dates, or distribution information, until all have their ducks in a row. That said, we will share details with everyone here as they become available!
