"Broadway" comic strips: W. C. Fields

Postby Ed Watz » Wed Mar 25, 2020 11:23 am

W.C. Fields was a popular subject - he appeared in at least 8 strips over 16 months. In none of these does Fields wear his prop mustache and he's almost always in street clothes. Note that Lillian Roth is playing feed in the second strip; between 1929 and 1930 alone she worked with Fields, Maurice Chevalier, Lupino Lane, The Four Marx Brothers... Some missed opportunities for a great interview there and she *was* on several talk shows...unfortunately none of her interviewers were of Mafiosi caliber.
