Thanks to the graciousness of the Holiday Inn Rosslyn, they are holding a limited number of rooms on Wednesday night July 14 at the special Slapsticon rate of $99 plus applicable taxes. That rate will be available for Thursday July 15 through Sunday July 18 (check out Monday morning). This is a deal-and-a-half folks. Try getting on any of the hotel search engines and find a room this close to DC and within blocks of a Metro station for anywhere near this price. Just use the special SLP code and book your room anytime after Wednesday. If you wait till the summer the block may have been filled. The operators at the Holiday Inn 800 number may not recognize the code, but you can call the hotel directly at 703-807-2000.

Rob - Kudos to both you and Richard for all of the prep that's been done on the film program and hotel logistics! I'm on countdown to July 2010!

I just booked my room for the Wednesday night deal and the woman I spoke to told me there were only 12 rooms left for the special $99 Wednesday, so those who are twiddling their thumbs, get crackin'.

Make that ten (10) discounted rooms. Book now -- they are going quickly!

I am putting together the Abbott and Costello Rarities show which, like last year's Three Stooges Rarities, will be loaded with fantastic footage. As always, the show will contain material that even the most diehard fan has not seen previously. Too, the print of Africa Screams is a beautiful restoration struck from the very best surviving 35mm elements. DO NOT MISS this screening!

I may be one of the few people who actually likes "Africa Screams" so I am really looking forward to this!

I have always liked it too, Louie! You will not be disappointed with the print, restoration was executed several years back by archivist / historian Bob Furmanek. Perhaps I can persuade Bob to join the mafia and post some details about his works. I'll send him a note.

I booked my reservations as well, Wed 7/14 - Mon 7/19. I just said "Slapsticon rate," I didn't notice the "SLP" code on Rob's email until after the call so I didn't specify it that way, but it sounded like the guy at the desk knew what I was talking about as he confirmed it was $99.
