In case anyone's going to be in the New York City area this summer I wanted to mention that the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center is going to be hosting "The Peregrinations & Pettifoggery of W.C. Fields." This is the exhibit that was at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, curated by Joe Adamson and Howard Prouty. Here's the link to the Library's site with more information:

I've put together a film series that begins June 1st and runs every Tuesday at 2:30 pm at the Library's Bruno Walter auditorium (ideal if you're retired or unemployed). The schedule is:

Tuesday June 1 at 2:30 pm
SALLY OF THE SAWDUST ('25)

Tuesday June 8 at 2:30 pm
POOL SHARKS ('15)
SO'S YOUR OLD MAN ('26)
accompaniment by Ben Model

Tuesday June 15 at 2:30 pm
THE GOLF SPECIALIST '30)
RUNNING WILD ('27)

Tuessday June 22 at 2:30 pm
THE DENTIST ('32)
YOU'RE TELLING ME ('34)

Tuesday June 29 at 2:30 pm
IT'S A GIFT ('34)

Tuesday July 6 at 2:30 pm
THE FATAL GLASS OF BEER ('33)
THE BANK DICK ('40)

I had the great fortune to see the original exhibit in LA (I was also honored to provide several items for display) and strongly suggest that if you are in the NYC area -- go see it! Joe, Howard and the rest of the Academy staff truly did a magnificent job capturing every aspect of Fields' career.

I understand that the new exhibit is slightly smaller (my own contribution on this go around was an original poster for RUNNING WILD) but I expect that the show will be every bit as fun, fascinating and informative as the original.

Congratulations to everyone involved with this worthwhile endeavor!

I'm planning to go on June 8 for So's Your Old Man if other Mafioso want to meet up for lunch or dinner.

Paul, that's a beautiful RUNNING WILD poster.

Rob mentioned that he's going to be there on June 8th, and that date looks like it's going to be a bit of an event as grandchildren Harriet and Ron Fields are going to be there too, plus Ben Model's playing for POOL SHARKS and SO'S YOUR OLD MAN.

I forgot to add in my first post that I've been gathering Fields material from the LPA's collection, so there's going to be some interesting photographs (stage & film), programs, clippings, etc., that will be on display on the 3rd floor of the Library as well.
