For those of you in the NYC area (or who will be in early October), Steve Massa, Ron Magliozzi and I have put together another five programs of (mostly) rare silent comedy shorts from MoMA's collection. The next round of "Cruel and Unusual Comedy" will have a six-day run in MoMA's Titus 1 theater Wed Oct 6 to Mon Oct 11 with live musical accompaniment by yours truly and introductions by Steve. Weekday shows are at 8pm, with repeats at 4:30, and weekend shows will be at 2pm and 5pm. Same week as Bored-enone, easier to travel to and way funnier.
As we did with the last run of shows (May 2009) Steve and I will be posting our own film notes on a blog site. The notes and specific show dates/times won't be up for another couple of months, but you can see the list of programs and the film titles there now. Go to http://www.cruelandunusualcomedy.com to see what we've got lined up covering: drugs/alcohol, the medical profession, gender roles, surrealism, and the homeless. The C&U blog site has our notes and film titles from the 2009 programs, also.
