Ben Turpin DVDs on Oldies.com

Postby Jim Reid » Sat Sep 10, 2011 3:34 pm

I was browsing on Oldies.com and I saw two DVDs of Ben Turpin films. They were only about $6 and I was wondering if anyone here had seen them and if they were worth the trouble. Thanks.

Hi Jim...
I have "Turpin Time" and it's not bad, but it's not Kino.
These were probably taken from 8mm film prints and aren't the sharpest nor professionally tweaked.
I think the films are from Sam Sherman's collection, I saw his name somewhere on the box.
The prints are flat, but really all we (unfortunately) have on Turpin at this time, other than the great Weiss-O-Rama set,
and the things that Chris Snowden put on his compilations at Unknown Video.
I will be ordering Oldies.com's "The Turpinator" despite its awwwful title; there's some good Turpin shorts there!
He'll be back...... (Ben that is)

Thanks Steve. I guess I'll pick them up.
