As some of you may know, the Library of Congress recently purchased Stan Laurel's scrapbooks from his daughter Lois (Thanks Rob Stone!) Along with Michael Hayde, Jim Kerkhoff, Steve Massa and Ben Model, Rob recently gave us an opportunity to preview these. They will eventually all be scanned and uploaded for all to enjoy. Here are a few choice bits to whet your whistle.
1912 note with self-portrait from Charlie Chaplin to Stan.
Stan and Mae's gag notebook.
Two pages from a French magazine spread on Atoll K. An image gallery and a few stills I've never seen before.
A rather gruesome sketch of Stan and Babe, artist unknown.
A lost short supporting a lost feature.
Us in Nirvana. Pic 1 and pic 2.

Stan looks like Larry Semon in the HAT'S OFF ad.

looks like some really nice material there. Those trade ads always catch my eye more than many lobby cards some times. Don't know what is is about them that attract me so, I really like the hand-made look to them. You can see humans put them together. Many load the page with dozens of cut-out photos creating a nice piece of work.
