Even though it would be a while before it was announced that he had moved to Sennett, Harry Langdon's continued absence from Principal Pictures production charts seems to indicate he had already stopped making films for Sol Lesser around the end of Summer 1923.

I noticed that CAMERA has slightly updated their rather non-specific Roach Studio listing of releases. They have added the Charley Chase one reel comedies as a regular series. They still don't seem to have gotten the word though that the Snub pollard one reelers have wrapped for good. The biggest mystery though is the continued absence of a listing for the Spat Family series which had been in production since the previous May.

Any way here's a more detailed breakdown on what was going on at the Roach Studios during the second week of October 1923.

Hugh Jackman wrapped up his initial round of production on the Rex feature, KING OF THE WILD HORSES, on October 13th. The film had been shooting since January and would resume shooting again in November after about a month's layoff.

The Will Rogers unit finished its first round of shooting TWO WAGONS, BOTH COVERED at the beginning of the week and then spent a couple of days shooting additional footage for GEE WHIZ, GENEVIEVE.

Len Powers kept his Dippy Doo Dad films on schedule wrapping up THE MAN PAYS early in the week and moving onto LOVE'S REWARD before the week's end.

The Our Gang kids were still busy shooting THE BUCCANEERS.

The Stan Laurel unit finished his latest two-reeler, NEAR DUBLIN, on October 9th and started up his next, SMITHY on October 11th.

The Charley Chase crew was apparently cooking with Crisco at this time as they also wrapped shooting their latest short on October 9th (POWDER AND SMOKE) and then took a day off before shooting ONE OF THE FAMILY in a mere two days! Nice goin' boys!

And finally the poor ignored Spat Family series continued in production; finishing shooting of POLITICAL PULL mid week and starting soon after on their next film HELP ONE ANOTHER.

Once again no activity at the Sennett Studio.
What the hell was he doing during that two year shut-down?
Selling magazine subscriptions on the street corner?

I guess the Roach and Sennett studios don't rate on the studio tour circuit.

I'm sure Roach would be included in the Culver City tour.
