Hank Mann and Jerry Madden on line

Postby Steve Massa » Tue Sep 27, 2011 9:37 pm

Hi guys
Internet Archive two interesting silent comedies available. The first is J-U-N-K ('20) with Hank Mann:

Also in the cast are Vernon Dent, Madge Kirby, Jack Richardson, Dorothy Vernon, and James Welsh. The second film is listed as JERRY THE PAPER BOY, but it's really the Fox Animal Comedy A DOG'S PAL (4/10/1927) starring the Big Boy clone Jerry Madden:

This one was directed by Zion Myers, and it also has Pal, Jack McHugh, Stanley Blystone and Fred Spencer in the cast.

What's with the little kid talking out of the side of his mouth? Did he think he was playing Popeye?

It's kind of a funny character touch, since he's supposed to be an orphan street kid. Either that or he's really Jack Mercer as a child.
