I'm thinking that the Chick Collins listed as Ass't Direct on the Buster Keaton production "Three Acres of Land" (THE THREE AGES??) must be the same Chick Collins who later played small parts in some of the Roscoe Arbuckle directed shorts like HOME CURED ('26) and HIS PRIVATE LIFE ('26), and then became an uncredited bit player, stuntman and stand-in from the 1930s to the 1950s.

I suspect your assumption about about Chick Collins is correct Steve and, yes, "Three Acres of Land" is "The Three Ages." The former appears to have been the original working title but I've noticed that some of the clippings had already started to refer to it as "The Three Ages" in the previous issue of CAMERA so it only seems to have only been the working title for a very short while.

Clippings today are mostly Educational (with a bit of Sennett tossed in).

Some more info on the British comedian Monte Moles (who was mentioned in a clipping an issue or two back). Seems he was working with Lloyd Hamilton at this time. Anyone have a guess as to what Hamilton comedy they are referring to with its location shooting in San Diego?

Tomorrow should finish up this issue of CAMERA and then I'll start transcribing the January 27, 1923 issue pieces a day or two later.

Who’sWho and What’s What in Filmland This Week

Hazel Deane has been engaged by the Christie organization and will appear in comedies directed by Al Christie. Miss Deane's picture experience has been of less than a year's duration.

Monte Moles, the English comedian, has just returned from San Diego with the Hamilton White company, where atmosphere scenes for their next comedy were filmed. Monte wears a funny moustache in this picture which he says was suggested to him by a very eccentric English colonel in France during the recent World war. It is said to have a very humorous effect. However, Monte doesn't intend to patent it. (Camera Vol. 5 No. 41 pg. 14)

News and Gossip About the Moving Throngs of Movieland

MAY BREAK TRADITION
Louise Fazenda has let out a secret. The Comedienne, who will complete in a few days a Fazenda Special for Educational under the supervision of Jack White at United Studios, is doing her situation comedy. There is some slap-stick, but none of the violent sort, the bulk of the fun being secured from the angle of surprise and the unexpected. Furthermore, she has contracted to do in this comedy, the same difficult action that in all of the history of the screen has gone exclusively to male stars, because the tradition has existed that a girl could not accomplish anything hazardous. Falls, among other things, have always been taboo for any comedienne, but Miss Fazenda in this latest picture, has a number to her score and does them with consumate ease, it is said. It seems Jimmie was really jumping around in the early 20's. There is a credit for Jimmie in the Universal comedy VAMPED (Mar 1923) and I had assumed it was held over from 1921 when he was appearing with Lee Moran and directing for Universal. I don't know why this article says Jimmie signed with Stern in Jan 1923 when Jimmie signed with Christie in December of 1922 after being demoted to a one-reel comedian by Jack White. Jack White still used Jimmie as a scenarist while Jimmie was at Universal in the early 1920's. Jimmie's Educational co-worker Lige Conley made at least 2 comedies for Universal while a star comic for White. This Universal/White intermingling is veddy interesting.
