L&H, Our Gang, Max Davidson billboards at Hal Roach Studios

Hollywood Travelogue from the late 1920s showing exterior wall of the Hal Roach Studios with billboards of Laurel & Hardy, Our Gang, and the edge of a Max Davidson billboard (Max’s is a tantalizing loss - and Charley Chase's signage is also missing). A blurred L&H billboard can also be spott...

Re: CHARLEY CHASE AT HAL ROACH: THE LATE SILENTS 1927 Coming in November.........

We comedy buffs live in exciting times and if this set isn’t proof I don’t know what is... Fifteen titles equals 5 hours-plus of rare Charley Chase by my tally. Guess I’ll just have to drop whatever I’m doing the moment my Blu-Ray arrives! Richard, Paul, Kit - thank you all for making the impossible...

Re: Oldies.com Sprocket Vault Sale

Hi Ed. I bought an external BR drive and to my great delight, it’s region-free. So I’m going to be picking up some Eureka discs, especially L&H: Y1 for Chris Seguin’s and David Kalat’s commentaries. What country has the cheapest international shipping rates? Rob, your best bet with internationa...

1969: Chaplin talks about his reissue of THE CIRCUS

Despite some inane and even rude questions, in seven minutes we learn more from Chaplin about the making of THE CIRCUS and what he thinks about the film than you’ll find in his autobiography: An affable Charlie Chaplin speaks to reporters outside his home in Vevey about his 1969 reissue of THE CIRCU...

Re: SMILEAGE GUARANTEED HAL ROACH BOOK ON SALE NOW!

For the insight found between its covers, two hundred smackers is still a fair price for this excellent book on the Hal Roach studio.

For comparison, I’ve been gifted $50-$75 "coffee table" film books from major publishers that are better suited to buttress a wobbly coffee table.

Re: Peter Marshall RIP

Its been a while since I've seen it, but I believe he and Tommy Noonan make an appearance in the 1951 WB film STARLIFT as soldier/entertainers, playing themselves, if I recall correctly. As an addendum, Marshall wrote a very entertaining behind the scenes memoir called BACKSTAGE WITH THE ORIGINAL H...
